4th Gulf Alumni Gathering Strengthens Youth Ties in Bahrain
The Kingdom of Bahrain hosted the 4th Gulf Alumni Gathering of the “Ship for World Youth” program, organized by the Ship for World Youth Association – Bahrain under the umbrella of the Ministry of Youth Affairs. The event brought together around 30 alumni from Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Turkey, and Spain.
The gathering was attended by H.E. Asako Okai, Ambassador of Japan to Bahrain, and Ms. Nani Mohammed Bati, Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Initiatives at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, along with several ministry directors and heads of the Ship for World Youth associations from participating countries, highlighting the event’s significance in supporting Gulf and international youth initiatives.
The program included a mix of leadership, community, and cultural activities. Participants visited key landmarks in Bahrain, engaged in cultural experiences such as pottery making, and conducted a community workshop for children from the Parents of the Disabled Association and their friends, reflecting the humanitarian and volunteer spirit of the gathering. Interactive sessions allowed alumni to exchange experiences and showcase youth initiatives from their home countries.
In this regard, Eng. Khalid Salman Al Sheikh, President of the Ship for World Youth Association – Bahrain, said hosting the gathering reflects Bahrain’s commitment to youth empowerment and strengthening regional partnerships. He noted that since its launch in 1988, the program has shaped active youth leaders who have made tangible impacts in their communities.
He added that the gathering aims to enhance Gulf and international alumni connections, unify efforts to develop future gatherings, and launch joint youth projects at the Gulf level, maximizing the program’s impact and expanding collaboration.
The “Ship for World Youth” program, an international initiative led by the Japanese government, empowers young people and develops leadership skills through cross-cultural dialogue and experience sharing. It provides a platform for participants to engage in discussions, educational, and cultural activities that foster understanding of global issues, promote international cooperation, and enhance leadership and personal skills, supporting youth engagement in sustainable development and community advancement.
