Bahrain Ambassador Hosts Young Leaders in London
A delegation from the eighth edition of the Young Parliamentarian Program visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the United Kingdom as part of an international tour aimed at enhancing youth awareness of diplomatic and parliamentary work.
His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, received the delegation at the Embassy in London. During the visit, participants were introduced to the deep-rooted historic ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom and were briefed on the role of diplomatic missions in representing national interests and strengthening international relations.
The Ambassador outlined the Embassy’s key responsibilities and highlighted the priorities of Bahraini diplomatic engagement in the UK. He emphasized the importance of diplomacy in supporting Bahrain’s national objectives and expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
As part of the programme, the delegation also met with Rehman Chishti, former Member of Parliament for Gillingham and Rainham and former Minister at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), who also served as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief. He shared insights from his parliamentary and diplomatic career, underscoring the significance of parliamentary diplomacy and the vital role young people play in policymaking and fostering dialogue between nations. He also provided an overview of the United Kingdom’s political and parliamentary system.
The visit marked the conclusion of the Young Parliamentarian Program, which was supported by the British Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Organised by the Youth Pioneer Society in cooperation with the British Embassy, the international visit brought together fourteen young men and women. The initiative aimed to develop participants’ skills, broaden their understanding of parliamentary practices, and expose them to international experiences, contributing to the preparation of informed and capable future youth leaders.
