A wave of dense fog in the early hours of today disrupted air traffic at Bahrain International Airport, leading to the delay of several outbound flights and the diversion of some inbound services to nearby Gulf airports.
According to global flight tracking website FlightRadar, a number of flights were diverted as a precautionary measure to ensure aviation safety due to significantly reduced visibility caused by the fog. Diverted flights were rerouted to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and Hamad International Airport in Doha.
The official Bahrain International Airport flight schedule also showed delays and rescheduling of several arriving and departing flights. Among the most affected were inbound flights from London, Kuwait, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
Air traffic gradually returned to normal as weather conditions improved and the fog cleared during the morning hours.
