Household electricity bills for Bahraini subscribers on a single account are now being charged under new rates, after a ministerial decision took effect on 3 February 2026 and applied the changes to consumption dating back to 1 January.
The Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Yasser bin Ebrahim Humaidan, issued Decision No. (1) of 2026, amending Article (1) of Decision No. (2) of 2025 on electricity and water consumption tariffs.
For Bahraini subscribers in the domestic consumption category on one account, the decision sets monthly electricity charges by bands.
Consumption from 0 to 3,000 units is priced at 3 fils per unit.
The band from 3,001 to 5,000 units is charged at 9 fils per unit.
Electricity use from 5,001 to 7,000 units is priced at 16 fils per unit for the subscriber’s first account, while consumption above 7,000 units is charged at 32 fils per unit.
The decision also states that bills covering the period from 1 January 2026 until the decision came into force on 3 February 2026 will be settled under the updated rates.
