Bahrain Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Terrorism

The Kingdom of Bahrain has reiterated its steadfast commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms, cutting off its sources of funding, and actively cooperating with international partners to sustain global counter-terrorism efforts. The statement highlighted the growing importance of such collaboration in the face of complex and evolving threats that continue to undermine international peace and security.

The remarks were delivered by His Excellency Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaihi, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, during a Security Council briefing on threats to international peace and security posed by terrorist activities. The session was chaired by Mr. Chris Elmore, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, in light of the UK’s presidency of the Council in February. Updates were also provided by Mr. Alexander Zoiev, Acting Under-Secretary-General for the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, and Ms. Natalia Gherman, Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate.

Ambassador Al Rowaihi emphasized that Bahrain remains committed to supporting international efforts against terrorism, highlighting the Kingdom’s active role as a member of the Global Coalition Against Daesh. He also underscored Bahrain’s contributions to strategic communications, countering terrorist financing, and preventing and countering extremism, while continuing to coordinate with international partners to address emerging global threats.
