Couple held for causing child's death
A couple has been held in custody for causing the death of a four-year-old child.
The father of the child, a Bahraini citizen of Arab origin, got married to his co-defendant and later tied the knot with his cousin. The latter delivered the victim. But, later on, problems surfaced with her husband and they divorced and she returned home. But, the child remained in custody of the father and the step-mother. According to court files, the child was taken to hospital for head injuries and he was vomiting. He succumbed to his injuries after four days. The father told the police that his wife had told him that he fell on his head. But she gave a different account to what happened, stating that the father punched his head because ‘he was crying a lot’. A forensic report confirmed that the child suffered a fatal physical attack on his head.
However the father blamed his wife.
