Brigadier Pilot Ali Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, attended the opening of a public awareness platform showcasing Civil Defence services as part of the activities marking World Civil Defence Day. This year’s observance is held under the theme Environmental risk management for a resilient and sustainable future, reflecting a growing national focus on prevention, readiness and community protection.
Event
The platform is being held at Seef Mall and will run till Saturday, welcoming visitors from ten in the morning until ten in the evening. The event brings together several Civil Defence departments in a unified public programme designed to explain services, promote safety awareness and strengthen engagement with citizens and residents.
Awareness
The Administrative Affairs Directorate, represented by the Public Relations and Awareness Section, organised an educational exhibition offering practical advice and safety guidance. The display includes interactive competitions and games that use artificial intelligence tools to deliver safety messages tailored for children. A dedicated colouring area and a character simulation of the Civil Defence hero Ghaith were also introduced, alongside a live display of Civil Defence vehicles and equipment, allowing families to engage directly with the work carried out on the ground.
Services
The Protection and Safety Directorate and the Services Centre at the Security Complex presented the latest electronic services launched by Civil Defence. Officials explained the procedures for accessing these digital services and highlighted how they aim to simplify processes, reduce waiting times and improve public access to essential safety related services through modern platforms.
Training
In the same context, the Civil Defence School delivered a practical presentation on safety equipment and first aid tools, outlining their everyday uses and the correct ways to apply them in emergency situations. The initiative seeks to build a stronger safety culture within society by equipping individuals with basic knowledge that can make a critical difference before professional responders arrive.
The event reflects a wider institutional effort to move safety awareness beyond official buildings and into public spaces, reinforcing the role of prevention, education and shared responsibility in protecting lives and property across the Kingdom.
