Ministry Employee Acts Fast to Protect Lives on Busy Road in Bahrain
A routine scene on one of Bahrain’s busiest roads quickly turned into a race against time after a driver suffered a sudden health emergency while driving on Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway.
The incident could have ended in tragedy, but the fast response of Abdulrahman Badr Al-Saeed, an employee at the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs under the Ministry of Interior at the King Fahd Causeway, helped save the driver’s life and prevented a major traffic accident.
Speaking to Al Ayam, Al-Saeed said he had no choice but to act immediately. “There was only one option — to intervene at once to save the driver and protect lives and property,” he said, stressing that even a few seconds of delay could have led to a serious disaster.
Al-Saeed explained that while heading to work on Saturday afternoon, he noticed a vehicle moving erratically. The car struck a metal barrier before re-entering the road, creating a dangerous situation, especially as foggy and dusty conditions reduced visibility for other road users.
He added that he safely overtook the traffic patrol already at the scene and positioned his vehicle to stop the car without causing further danger. He then provided first aid to the driver until National Ambulance teams arrived and took over.
In a related statement, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that traffic patrols handled the incident in coordination with the driver. The vehicle was stopped after it was found that the 34-year-old Bahraini driver had suffered a sudden health issue.
The ministry said National Ambulance teams provided on-site first aid before transferring the driver to hospital for further treatment. The quick response helped prevent injuries and serious traffic accidents.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that its personnel remain committed to serving the community, protecting lives and property, and responding swiftly to emergencies, reflecting strong humanitarian values and national responsibility.
