Boat violating fishing ban faces legal action

The Ministry of Interior has concluded its investigation into the maritime incident that occurred on October 20, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to uncovering the full circumstances of the case.
An investigation committee determined that one of the boats involved was fishing at night during the prohibited shrimp-fishing period, in violation of the law.
Authorities said that when a coast guard patrol approached the boat, which had deliberately switched off its navigation lights and disabled its location tracking device, it failed to respond to orders to stop.
A collision occurred between the two vessels before the offending boat attempted to flee at maximum speed, until the patrol was able to bring it under control. Based on the findings, the Ministry of Interior has referred the results of the investigation to the Public Prosecution for the necessary legal action.
