The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, and with support from the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Environment Programme, is organising a regional training workshop on biodiversity monitoring and national reporting for West Asian countries on December 21-23.

The workshop brings together representatives of regional countries, government entities, academic institutions, the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and environmental experts.

Strategies

It aims to support countries in updating and preparing their national biodiversity strategies and action plans, as well as the Seventh National Report, in line with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The workshop also provides a platform for technical dialogue and the exchange of best practices, contributes to strengthening institutional and technical capacities, enhancing biodiversity governance, improving coordination among relevant stakeholders, and supporting evidence-based planning, monitoring, and decision-making.
