Lando Norris: The New King of Formula 1

McLaren — owned by Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, Mumtalakat — has secured the 2025 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship title following the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit.

British driver Lando Norris sealed his championship victory after finishing the season at the top of the drivers’ standings, capping an exceptional year marked by fierce competition and defining moments.

In the final race, McLaren delivered another strong performance, with Australian driver Oscar Piastri finishing second and Norris taking third. Their combined effort added valuable points to McLaren’s tally and showcased the team’s consistent strength throughout the season.

Norris collected an additional 15 points, bringing his total to 423 points, securing his lead in the overall standings and officially earning the Drivers’ Championship title.

Earlier in the season, McLaren had already captured the 2025 Constructors’ Championship for the second consecutive year, clinching the title during the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay Street Circuit — six rounds before the season finale. The team’s drivers delivered standout performances across the calendar, reinforcing McLaren’s dominance.

This global achievement further underscores McLaren’s status as one of Bahrain’s most prominent international sports investments and reflects Mumtalakat’s ongoing commitment to supporting world-class sports and elevating Bahrain’s presence on the global sporting stage.
