Palestinian Cause at the Core of Regional Efforts, Say Arab Leaders

GULF SUMMIT 2025: The Supreme Council has reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the need to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Council highlighted adherence to the Arab Peace Initiative, international law, and United Nations resolutions, stressing the importance of supporting Palestinian sovereignty over all occupied territories.

The Council called for national reconciliation to strengthen Palestinian unity and praised the efforts of Arab states in this regard. It urged the international community to prevent actions targeting Palestinian presence in Jerusalem, including forced expulsions, attempts to alter the city’s legal or historical status, and efforts to impose Israeli sovereignty over holy sites. The Council reaffirmed support for Jordan’s administration of Jerusalem Endowments and Al Aqsa Mosque Affairs as the sole authority managing the mosque.

Praising regional and international efforts, the Council highlighted initiatives by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, who called for an international peace conference to establish a secure and sovereign Palestinian state. It also supported efforts to gain full UN recognition for Palestine and welcomed calls for the deployment of international protection and peacekeeping forces in Palestinian territories.

The Council praised the outcomes of the recent “International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine” and Saudi Arabia’s leadership in implementing the two-state solution. It welcomed the launch of the Emergency Alliance for the Financial Sustainability of the Palestinian Authority, which aims to stabilize its finances and ensure essential services and security.

The Council condemned Israeli measures including the attempted transfer of authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque, settlement expansion in the West Bank, and continued attacks and destruction of Palestinian infrastructure. It called on the international community to pressure Israel to halt these actions, which violate international law and UN resolutions.

The Council stressed that peace can only be achieved through direct negotiations and diplomatic dialogue, and reaffirmed support for UNRWA and international efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians. It emphasized the importance of sustaining international support for refugees and advancing diplomatic recognition of the State of Palestine.
