Regional Stability and Palestinian Rights at the Heart of GCC Discussions
GULF SUMMIT 2025:The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) emphasized its commitment to maintaining stability and security in the region, supporting the prosperity of its peoples, and strengthening relations with regional and international partners. The Council highlighted its role in promoting peace, sustainable development, and the aspirations of Arab and Islamic nations.
The Council reaffirmed respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs, rejecting any threats to GCC member states. It stressed that regional security is indivisible, based on collective defence principles under the GCC Charter and Joint Defence Agreement, and remains a key pillar of Arab national security.
Situation in Gaza
The GCC expressed strong support for the Palestinian people in Gaza, calling for an end to the siege, the opening of crossings for humanitarian aid, and the protection of civilians in accordance with international law. The Council welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, held in Egypt on October 14, 2025, praising the role of Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and the United States in agreeing to a ceasefire and steps toward a comprehensive peace.
The Council highlighted Qatar’s efforts in facilitating negotiations, achieving a ceasefire, and securing the release of hostages. It also welcomed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, which supports a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and establishes a Peace Council to coordinate reconstruction efforts. The GCC reaffirmed its support for a unified Palestinian state and the two-state solution.
The Council condemned Israeli attacks in Gaza, holding Israel responsible for civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure. It rejected attempts to displace Palestinians and called for international accountability for violations, including genocide, collective punishment, and attacks on humanitarian aid.
The GCC also welcomed international efforts, including the Arab plan for Gaza’s recovery, and urged global participation in reconstruction funding while ensuring the Palestinian people remain at the center of rebuilding efforts.
