Bahrain Celebrates Grand Finale of Marine Heritage Season

Royal patronage crowns an exceptional eighth edition honouring tradition, sport and regional unity.

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and on behalf of His Majesty, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, attended the closing ceremony of the eighth version of Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Sports Season. The event was held along the waterfront next to the Bahrain National Museum, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

His Highness Shaikh Abdullah was received by senior members of the Royal Family, ministers and officials, before the ceremony commenced with the national anthem, a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and a welcoming address. This year’s season concluded more than three months of competitions that showcased Bahrain’s rich maritime heritage and attracted wide community participation.

His Highness witnessed the open water freestyle swimming races for the 30 to 45 and 46 plus age groups, followed by the final of the traditional 30 foot rowing race for His Majesty the King’s Cup. The 3,000 metre contest featured leading teams from Bahrain and across the GCC.

He later honoured the winners, praising the strong performances and the dedication shown by all participants. His Highness affirmed that the continued royal support of His Majesty the King reflects Bahrain’s commitment to preserving traditional sports, strengthening youth engagement and safeguarding national heritage.

His Highness also congratulated His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the sustained success of the Marine Heritage Season, noting that its achievements reinforce Bahrain’s leadership in cultural preservation.

In the traditional rowing race, Al- Ahd Oman team secured first place, followed by Bahrain’s E’ssar team in second and Oman’s Shabab Sohar team in third.

In the open water swimming event for the 30 to 45 age category, Mohammed Yahya Jafn took first place, with Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Dosari second and Hamad Mohammed Al Mansouri third.

In the 46 plus category, Sanad Bader Jassim won first place, while Abdulrahman Jassim Abdulrahman and Nawaf Hamad Majdam placed second and third respectively.
