The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) expresses its profound condolences on the passing of Lalchand Gajria, one of the most respected figures in the institution’s history.
His demise marks the loss of a visionary leader whose commitment, generosity and unwavering belief in community education helped lay the foundation on which the School proudly stands today.
Lalchand Gajria served as the Chairman of The Indian School from November 1973 to October 1974, a period that proved pivotal in shaping the School’s identity and direction.
Supported by a team of dedicated philanthropists, he worked tirelessly to raise the stature of the institution, overcoming numerous challenges with determination, idealism and a deep sense of service.
His relentless efforts contributed significantly to securing the School’s premises in Isa Town, graciously donated by the Late Amir, Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Even after decades of progress, his name continues to evoke admiration and respect when one reflects on the School’s formative years.
The Indian School remains deeply grateful for Lalchand Gajria’s immeasurable contributions, which extended far beyond his tenure as Chairman.
He graced the Platinum Jubilee grand inaugural ceremony on 23 January 2025 at the Isa Town campus, joining eminent business leaders and philanthropists including Baboo Kewalram and Nevin Megchiani.
