Homeowners Facing BD 100 Fine for Not Pruning Trees
Manama: The municipality has imposed a BD 100 fine on homeowners for not pruning trees encroaching onto streets, sparking concerns among residents. During a Muharraq Governorate meeting, MPs discussed poor tree maintenance and related complaints.
MP Ahmed Al-Maqahwi expressed concern that some residents have received fines despite cooperating and completing the required pruning work, causing them inconvenience. He also requested a copy of the contract issued to Muharraq Municipality's Parks Department workers.
Muharraq Municipal Council Vice Chairman Saleh Bu Hazza criticised the lack of tree maintenance, citing fallen trees accumulating on streets. He attributed this to a shortage of workers, despite repeated complaints, and demanded immediate action from the Parks Department, pointing out that trees near the municipality building are damaging vehicles.
MP Dalal Al-Maqahwi noted that lack of pruning affects traffic and lighting on Airport Road, impacting Bahrain's image. Muharraq Director General Khalid Al-Qallaf promised to address the issue promptly.
