GCC–China Collaboration in Language Learning Takes Spotlight in Beijing

Dr. Farzana Abdullah Al Maraghi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, took center stage in Beijing as a keynote speaker at the China–Gulf Language and Culture Forum, delivering insights under the theme: “Building a New System for Chinese Language Education Between China and GCC Countries in the Digital Intelligence Era.”

Her participation came as part of the World Chinese Language Conference 2025, hosted in the Chinese capital.

In her address, Dr. Al Maraghi emphasized that the conference reflects the deep-rooted cultural and educational ties between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council states. She noted that language serves as a powerful bridge for human understanding and civilizational exchange — and that expanding Chinese language education across GCC countries is a strategic step that strengthens academic partnership, research collaboration, and long-term relations with China.

She highlighted Bahrain’s pioneering experience in Chinese language education, particularly through the Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain, which has become a regional model for cultural and linguistic exchange.

The World Chinese Language Conference 2025 was held under the slogan “Innovation Leads, AI Empowers: Learning Chinese Without Borders.” The event was organized by China’s Ministry of Education in cooperation with Beijing Language and Culture University, drawing participation from government leaders, education authorities, university presidents, and academic institutions from around the globe.
