Bahrain’s focus on youth and technology took centre stage at the Arab Youth Innovation and Technology Summit 2025 in Amman, where MP Dr Maryam Al-Dhaen said the region’s progress depends on empowering young innovators to drive change.
Held under the League of Arab States and organised by the Knights of Change Foundation, the two-day summit brought together Arab entrepreneurs, experts and officials from the innovation, artificial intelligence and renewable-energy sectors.
Dr Al-Dhaen, addressing delegates in her keynote titled ‘ How Technology Shapes Our Arab Future’ , said that “youth are the true fuel for the Arab world’s renaissance.”
Digital transformation
She urged Arab governments to invest more in science and technology to accelerate development and digital transformation.
“Innovation is no longer an intellectual luxury or an optional extra,” she said. “It has become a strategic necessity to address major challenges such as water scarcity, food security and climate change.”
Dr Al-Dhaen pointed to Bahrain’s own initiatives as examples of how small nations can build technological capacity with real-world impact.
She cited national projects that use satellite data to support sustainable agriculture and improve water-use efficiency, contributing to food security and sustainable development across the region.
National growth
She noted that Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and followed up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, places knowledge and technology at the core of national growth.
“Under this leadership, the Kingdom has become a model for adopting modern technological solutions,” the MP said.
The summit’s panels and workshops also explored the role of Arab youth in building the digital economy, highlighting regional opportunities in AI, renewable energy and advanced skills development.
