Torture: 7-year jail for cops
Two officers embroiled in torturing an inmate to death in 2011 have been sentenced to seven years behind bars each.
The defendants were earlier sentenced to ten years in prison by the High Criminal Court, but the Supreme Appeals Court reduced their jail time to two years on appeal.
The Cassation Court, however, ordered for them to be retried after the Public Prosecution challenged the appeal verdict. And yesterday another Supreme Appeals Court handed down both of them seven years imprisonment each.
