The Embassy of India in the Kingdom of Bahrain successfully hosted its regular Open House session yesterday, chaired by Ambassador H.E. Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob. The session, held to directly address the concerns and grievances of Indian nationals, saw the participation of over 50 community members.
The interactive meeting, conducted in English, Hindi, and Malayalam to ensure broad accessibility, brought together teams from the Embassy’s Community Welfare and Consular wings, along with its panel lawyers. Participants were able to raise their concerns and receive prompt advice, with several issues being resolved on the spot.
Ambassador Jacob noted the progress made on previously raised issues, confirming that most cases from the last Open House have been successfully resolved, demonstrating the efficiency and commitment of the Embassy’s follow-up mechanism. The Open House also served as a platform for the Ambassador to brief the community on recent Embassy-led initiatives.
He briefed that Mr Rajiv Kumar Mishra, Counsellor (CW) / Head of Chancery, along with welfare officials, recently conducted essential visits to Jau Jail and the Women's Detention Centre in Isa Town to interact with Indian inmates and assess their welfare status.
He highlighted the successful inauguration of the Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Tourism and One District One Product (ODOP) walls at the Consular Hall on September 15, 2025. The event was marked by vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich traditions of both Indian states.
The Embassy continues to utilize the Government of India’s Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) to provide crucial means-tested assistance. This support includes providing boarding and lodging for distressed nationals, issuing Emergency Certificates, funding air tickets, and assisting with the transportation of mortal remains.
Earlier on the day of the Open House, the Embassy successfully organized the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 at the Marina Beach Park area in Juffair. Held from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM, the event saw the enthusiastic participation of around 200 people of all ages, promoting fitness and community spirit.
Concluding the productive session, Ambassador Jacob extended his sincere gratitude to the Bahrain Government authorities, including the Ministry of Labour, LMRA, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior, and Immigration authorities, for their swift support and prompt action on consular and community welfare issues.
He also acknowledged the invaluable collaboration from the Indian community and associated organizations in various activities. The Ambassador reiterated the Embassy's promise to take up and resolve all remaining grievances at the earliest possible opportunity
