Promoting Market Cleanliness in Southern Municipality

The Southern Municipality has launched a new awareness campaign under the slogan “Committed”, aimed at enhancing public cleanliness and improving the urban environment.

For the first time, the initiative targets shopkeepers and market workers, encouraging them to maintain cleanliness around their shops and properly dispose of waste in designated areas. The campaign began on Al-Hajiyat Street in East Riffa.

Key Practices
The initiative seeks to build healthier and more sustainable communities by promoting key practices, such as:

  • Disposing of waste in designated containers.

  • Avoiding behaviors that distort the appearance of commercial areas.

  • Conserving water in front of shops.

  • Maintaining cleanliness both inside and outside stores.

The campaign also emphasizes the importance of keeping public roads clear of goods and displays to improve visitor comfort and preserve the overall image of market areas.

These measures are in line with the Public Hygiene Law No. 10 of 2019 and the Public Road Occupation Law No. 2 of 1996.
