Drugs seized at airport, one held

The Director of Air Exits Customs announced yesterday the arrest of a foreign traveler who carried powder substance suspected to be heroin weighing 1559.6 grams at the Bahrain International Airport.
He said that customs officers suspected the traveler and was referred to the red route for searching, in which a quantity weighting 948.3 grams of the suspected powder was found inside his slippers and the remaining quantity of 611.3 grams was found inside his handbag.
The Director added that the suspect and the confiscated materials were handed over to the Anti-narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science for legal proceedings and to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
