Bahrain Polytechnic Elects Female President

Bahrain Polytechnic students have elected Bayan Yaser Mohamed Abdulla Mohamed Abdulla as President of the 2025–26 Student Council, marking a milestone for female representation in campus leadership and student governance.

Bayan received the highest number of votes in a strongly contested election that saw wide participation from students across disciplines. The 12-member Bahrain Polytechnic Student Council (BPSC) was officially approved by the institution’s Chief Executive Officer following the vote.

New Leadership Team

Ebrahim Saleh Qaed Mohamed Alamri will serve as Vice President, with Ahmed Adnan Mohamed Rafeea A. Rahman Awadhi as Secretary, and Haleema Salah Mohamed Yaqoob Kamal as Financial Treasurer.

Committee heads include Husain Ali Abdulla Mohamed Abdulla Albanna, who was named Chair of the Sports Committee, alongside Vice Chair Maryam Fawaz Jasim Mohamed Jasim Almannaei.

Noora Fawaz Jasim Mohamed Jasim Almannaei and Jameela Mohamed H. Sharaf will lead the Art and Culture Committee. Maryam Aref Ismaeel Radhi Ismaeel was appointed Chair of the Social Committee, with support from Fawaz Mohamed Ahmed Mohsen Ali Alhayki, Bayan Khaled Ebrahim Mohamed Alheddi, and Maryam Ali Hasan Ali Hasan, who will head the Student Services Committee.

Bahrain’s labour market is witnessing a steady rise in female workforce participation, with women now making up over 43 percent of the public sector, according to Bahrain’s Information and eGovernment Authority.

Institutional Backing

Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, congratulated the newly elected council, highlighting the election process as a sign of strong student responsibility and democratic engagement.

He stressed the importance of empowering students to participate actively in shaping their educational and social experience. He also expressed appreciation to the outgoing council, whose initiatives had a notable impact on campus life and student development.

Voice of the Students

Bayan called her election both an honour and a responsibility. She pledged to make the council a platform for cooperation and open dialogue with administration and faculty, aimed at enhancing academic outcomes and student well-being.

The incoming council is expected to advance efforts toward a more inclusive, collaborative, and student-driven environment throughout the year.
