Seven-year jail for planting fake bombs
A 23-year-old man was handed down seven years behind bars for rioting and planting two fake bombs.
The Bahraini defendant is said to have been among the rioters, who caused mayhem in Isa Town on October 8 this year. They reportedly torched 15 tyres in the area and planted fake explosives.
Bomb disposal experts were called later to the scene after the riot was dispersed.
The defendant’s identity was detected after police officers lifted fingerprints from the scene.
The defendant was tried before the High Criminal Court, which has convicted him of setting tyres on fire, being implicated in a hoax bomb.
