It is important to regularly updating emergency plans and response strategies based on accurate and up-to-date risk assessments.

This was emphasised by Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, as he chaired a meeting of the National Committee for Civil Emergency Management, bringing together senior officials from the Ministry of Interior and representatives of relevant government entities.

The meeting was convened under the directives of the Civil Defence Council and aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to strengthening national security and safeguarding the well-being of its citizens and residents.

During the session, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan emphasised the critical importance of activating all operational and logistical components of the National Civil Emergency Plan, highlighting the need for maximum preparedness and swift response in light of the evolving regional landscape.

Comprehensive review

The committee conducted a comprehensive review of national emergency protocols, assessing readiness to respond to various scenarios.

Particular focus was placed on enhancing coordination mechanisms and institutional integration across relevant agencies, ensuring field readiness in all sectors, and improving collaboration between security and service authorities.

The session included a detailed examination of both security and humanitarian response measures, with emphasis on strengthening operational coordination among ministry operations centres and aligning efforts under the unified framework of the National Emergency Plan. Discussions also focused on medical and shelter preparedness, with reviews of hospital readiness, availability of medical personnel, pharmaceutical stockpiles, and essential supplies. The meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining strategic reserves of food, water, and fuel, and integrating such data into the broader national decision-making process.

Public awareness and communication

The Chief of Public Security also underlined the necessity of strengthening public awareness and communication, urging the optimisation of official messaging via the National Civil Protection Platform.

He cautioned against the spread of misinformation and rumours, encouraging the public to rely solely on official sources and adhere to updates and instructions issued through the Civil Defence platform to ensure public safety and order. The meeting reaffirmed Bahrain’s proactive approach to civil emergency preparedness, aiming to uphold national resilience in the face of any potential crisis.
