Detailed designs for the expansion of Wali Al Ahd Highway between Jasra Junction and Buri Roundabout have been completed, MP Muneer Seroor has said.

The planned upgrade will involve building a dual carriageway with four lanes in each direction, and is expected to ease traffic in an area known for regular jams.

Seroor said the budget had already been allocated, and the project would move ahead once the formalities were dealt with.

He also pointed to the near completion of construction works at Jasra Junction, along with other upgrades within the same parliamentary district.

Questions

In Parliament, Works Minister Ibrahim Al Hawaj outlined what the ministry is doing in Constituency 7 of the Northern Governorate, responding to questions raised by Seroor.

His written reply touched on a push to improve roads and drainage systems.

Among the current works is the resurfacing of Road 7128 and nearby streets in Block 571 in Janabiya, expected to be finished by year-end.

First quarter

Roadworks are also taking place in Block 756 in Buri, which are meant to wrap up in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, preparations are under way for resurfacing Road 7170 and surrounding routes in Janabiya’s Block 571, with a tentative start in the third quarter of 2025.

Seroor ended by urging quicker progress and firm budget allocations, saying the area deserves attention as it serves as a key gateway for visitors arriving via the King Fahad Causeway.
