Bahrain Cabinet Approves Draft Law to Ban Dangerous Animal Trade

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today at Gudaibiya Palace.
During the session, the Cabinet approved several key memoranda aimed at strengthening governance, urban development, and legal frameworks:
1. A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law prohibiting the possession and trade of dangerous animals, reinforcing Bahrain’s commitment to public safety.
2. A memorandum on amending the decree regulating the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, which includes transferring all human resources and financial directors in government entities to the Ministry to enhance efficiency and coordination.
3. A memorandum outlining a model agreement between the University of Bahrain and private schools for practical training programs for Bachelor of Physical Education students, supporting the development of skilled educators.
4. A memorandum from the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture concerning the expropriation of certain properties for public benefit to facilitate urban development and infrastructure expansion.
At the outset, the Cabinet extended its warmest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on being awarded the Prince Nayef Medal for Arab Security of the highest class by the Council of Arab Interior Ministers during its 42nd session.
The award is presented to heads of state and government leaders who have made significant contributions to security and peace. The Cabinet emphasized that His Majesty’s vision and directives have strengthened Bahrain’s role in supporting international efforts to promote global stability and security.
The Cabinet also celebrated Bahrain’s groundbreaking medical achievement in successfully treating a sickle cell anemia patient using CRISPR gene-editing technology. This milestone marks the first successful case outside the United States. The Cabinet praised the dedicated efforts of the relevant medical institutions, particularly the Royal Medical Services’ Bahrain Oncology Center, in achieving this global first and extended best wishes for the patient’s continued good health.
Additionally, the Cabinet extended heartfelt congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of Founding Day, commending the country's remarkable achievements under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the continued efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Cabinet also reviewed a memorandum from the Minister of Works on the progress of projects aimed at improving water flow in Tubli Bay.
Furthermore, the Cabinet took note of several ministerial reports, including:
* Participation in the joint ministerial conference in Paris on the situation in Syria.
* Attendance at the Munich Security Conference 2025.
* Bahrain’s delegation participation in the World Government Summit 2025.
* Engagement in the AlUla Conference on Emerging Economies.
* The official visit of the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications to Saudi Arabia for the third coordination meeting on investment, environment, and infrastructure, the Saudi-Bahraini Investment Forum, and the seventh Saudi-Bahraini Business Council meeting.
* Bahrain’s participation in the opening ceremony of Kuwait as the Arab Media Capital for 2025.
* Bahrain’s official events calendar for 2025.
The Cabinet reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its regional and international partnerships and maintaining progress in key national development initiatives.
