‘Bahrain proves society based on respect possible’
Bahrain proves that building a society based on mutual respect is possible in the Arab world, said French Ambassador Bernard Regnauld Fabre.
This came as HM the King received “This is Bahrain” delegates and sponsors yesterday.
He said the creation of “This is Bahrain” comes at a crucial moment in way of preventing radicals from obtaining a monopoly on communication.
He stressed Bahrain was among the first to show solidarity with France, when the country was struck by massive terrorist attacks, killing 130 people last month.
“This support is essential as it is together that we must respond. France will aptly defend its values, its societal model, and its political system in spite of such attacks,” he confirmed.
He recalled His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s gesture towards his country at the time of the deadly attacks on Charlie Hebdo and on a Jewish Supermarket.
The French envoy highlighted the multifaceted relations between Bahrain and France, citing the four agreements signed during HM the King’s visit to Paris on September 8.
He added that on November 20, the second session the Bilateral High Committee took place in Paris, which helped clarify the areas of cooperation for the upcoming two years.
“Our exchanges and cooperation cover numerous fields. In the education sector, French universities are ready to best assist Bahrain. The French Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain, created this year, will give an additional impetus to our trade,” he said.
The ambassador revealed that a number of French companies would take part in the Air Show to be held in January in Bahrain.
He also thanked the leadership for making Bahrain the first country in the GCC to generalise the teaching of French in the public as well as private schools.
