No tax on citizens for sewage services
The government has reaffirmed that no taxes would be imposed on citizens for sewage services, as what local journals had reported.
This was confirmed during the post Cabinet press meeting held by Parliament and Information Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammad at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
In the conference, Minister Al Hammadi stated that the Cabinet didn’t discuss the matter, but, he added that he was informed by Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf that there is an intention of imposing such taxes on the industrial and commercial fields and not on citizens. As for setting a limit for public debt to be 60 per cent of the state budget incomes, the minister confirmed that the matter was not discussed by the Cabinet yesterday, but a study of the effects of implementing the proposal was referred by Finance Ministry to the financial and legal affairs ministerial committees.
The minister also affirmed that the country is looking forward to enhance the logistics work fields, by giving foreign investors more facilitations to work in this field.
Al Hammadi said this comes to add more to the country’s income and create more job opportunities for Bahrainis in this field.
He confirmed that the government is also looking to improve several other fields to support the economy, including tourism and industrial fields.
