ManamaLong time Bahrain resident and Royal Golf Club Member Sam Hobday was crowned the winner of the 44th Muscat Open, the Sultanate of Oman, at the weekend.

Hobday, who is competing on the MENA Golf Tour this season, carded a respectable score of 73 on day one of the 36-hole tournament and then went on to set a new championship course record score of 70 on the second day, giving him a combined gross score of 143.

Defending champion Yaseen Le Falher (147), who is also a long time Bahrain resident and young Royal Golf Club Member, clinched the runners up spot while Bahrain national golf team player Nasser Yaqoob (153) came third.

Bahrain golfers dominated the gross division, which was hosted by Ras Al Hamra Golf Club.

“It’s wonderful to see two of our young players doing so well over in Oman,” commented Phil Waine, the Royal Golf Club’s Director of Golf.

“Both have been receiving regular tuition from our PGA Teaching Professionals for a number of years and obviously all their hard work.”
