Bahrain student faints at nerve-wracking CBSE Maths exam

Manama : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 Mathe exam on Monday was so tough and nerve-wracking for most of the students that one of them actually fainted in the exam hall.

The student fell unconscious after getting the question paper at the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) which was one of the two centres for the exam in Bahrain.

However school officials clarified that the student fainted not because of seeing the difficult question paper but because of his medical problems. The incident happened on Monday morning just as the exam began.

The invigilators saw the teenager faint after getting the question paper. Then he was taken to the adjacent room where he was given some medical treatment by the school staff nurse. The boy's parents also were called who explained the medical track records. After taking rest for sometime the student continued with writing the exam.

The problem, as explained by a school official, was that the student had a sleepless night the night before and had not eaten properly.

The source also clarified that the incident  had nothing to do with the exam paper. The boy was not allowed to go out of the exam hall and completed the exam within the allotted time.

Meanwhile many students said the exam really stumped them. For the second consecutive year, the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics examination had students crying over its length. A Mathematics teacher told DT News that it was tougher than the previous year's. They felt that the exam had some tricky questions and students may not have got time to revise their answers because of the length of the exam. The difficulty level was more or less same in the Maths question papers in other regions of CBSE in India.

Many students found the paper tricky and were not able to comprehend the questions. "A question from 'Matrix' took a lot of time and I am still not confident about my answer," said one of the students. Many of the students complained about this particular question. Moreover, it was a lengthy paper as students had to do a lot of workings and calculations to reach the answers. But one high achieving student felt that the exam was good.
