Michelle Obama reveals what Barack was like as a student

 Michelle Obama has revealed her husband 'barely got his work done' and instead 'fooled around' during high school, Daily Mail reported.

The First Lady urged college pupils to work hard citing it was 'never too late' to do well as she reportedly opened up about Barack Obama's past in a candid interview.

She also revealed she got better grades than the U.S. President.

 Speaking on The Real Daytime talk show, she said: 'Barack fooled around in high school. He's said it, he didn't take school seriously.

'He barely got his work done. He was a bum.'

 Michelle told the hosts, who filmed the episode at the White House, that it wasn't until her husband transferred to Colombia University in his second year that he realised he had to make something of his life.

She added: 'It is never too late. The president of the United States screwed around in high school and he still got his act together.'

 The President, who majored in political science, worked in law for 12 years before being inaugurated in 2009. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize the same year.

His wife's comments came as he announced a ban on solitary confinement for juveniles in prison.

The decision, which will affect around 10,000 inmates, will also protect prisoners who commit 'low-level infractions'.

The President said he made the change due to the heartbreaking and lasting psychological consequences of the punishment.

Obama became the first president to visit a federal prison in July. He is focusing on reforming the criminal justice system in his last term.
