Iran threats to poll candidates
The Director-General of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security announced yesterday the department had monitored and followed up the complaints by some candidates over receiving threats on social media asking to withdraw their candidatures.
He said that an investigation showed that those social media accounts were managed in Iran by the political groups operating outside Bahrain, including the dissolved Al Wefaq Society, to disrupt the election process.
He said that to protect the elections from any foreign interference, the citizens should report such cases through the hotline 992 or via 992@interior.gov.bh
