Qatar Condemns Houthi Attacks on Southern Saudi Arabia

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has condemned recent Houthi attacks targeting civilian and commercial sites in southern Saudi Arabia.

During a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the two officials discussed the latest regional developments and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthen regional security and stability.

Saudi authorities said 73 civilians, including women and children, were injured in Houthi attacks this week targeting Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. Some energy facilities also temporarily halted operations following the strikes.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen described the attacks as a "dangerous escalation", while Qatar reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to protect the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Doha also urged the international community to take firm action and ensure the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions concerning Yemen and Red Sea navigation.

The escalation has raised renewed concerns over a wider conflict in Yemen following years of relative calm after the 2022 UN-brokered truce.
