Khasab: A commercial oil tanker was struck by three unknown projectiles whilst exiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to a British maritime security agency.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that the vessel came under attack approximately 17 nautical miles east of Khasab, Oman, while completing an outbound transit through the key shipping corridor.
No casualties were reported among the crew, and no environmental damage or oil spills were recorded following the strike.
Maritime authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, ships transiting the strategic waterway have been advised to proceed with extreme caution and immediately report any suspicious activity.
The attack comes amid heightened regional tension and follows a separate weekend incident in which another tanker was hit by a projectile north of Khasab.
