Jakarta: An 84 years old paralysed woman was found alive three days after a massive earthquake destroyed her home on an Indonesian island, in what officials described as an almost unbelievable recovery.

Paulina Pobi was trapped beneath collapsing bamboo walls on a small island north of Flores when a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck on Saturday. She remained buried, unable to move or talk, until her relatives returned to find her on Tuesday.

Local official Rudolfus Riba stated that the family initially believed she had been rescued and taken to a shelter. Pobi was seen uninjured but weak following days without food or drink.

The earthquake killed 73 people, injured over 900, and displaced approximately 60,000. Over 3,000 aftershocks have been registered since Saturday.
