British Columbia: An old lady, 80, died while attempting to evacuate a fast-moving wildfire in British Columbia, as authorities cautioned people to expect worsening circumstances and thousands were forced to flee their homes.

The woman died as the Bald Range wildfire swept through the Okanagan region. The RCMP stated that she was killed while attempting to flee the blaze, but authorities have not provided a more specific medical cause of death.

More than 20,000 people have been evacuated from various sections of British Columbia as numerous wildfires continue to blaze out of control. The hot, dry, and windy circumstances make it increasingly difficult for firefighters to control the flames.

Authorities issued evacuation orders and warnings for several communities, advising residents to be prepared to evacuate on short notice. Firefighters, including those brought in from outside Canada, are trying to control the fires as officials analyse the mounting threat to homes and towns.
