Beijing: More than one million people have been evacuated throughout eastern China as Typhoon Dolphin, the country's biggest tropical cyclone this year, made landfall in Zhejiang province on Sunday.

The storm hit in Yuhuan with constant winds of roughly 151 km/h, bringing torrential rain, strong winds, and threats of flooding and landslides. More than 900,000 people were relocated in Wenzhou alone, with over 99,000 evacuated in Fujian.
Authorities also declared emergencies in Zhejiang, Shanghai, Fujian, and Jiangsu. More than 1,500 flights cancelled in Shanghai, while ferry and other transportation services were disrupted.

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue, with some places expecting up to 500 mm, boosting the possibility of flash floods other geological disasters.
