Maracay, Venezuela : A Venezuelan fashion workshop known for designing colourful dresses has switched to making body bags to help recovery efforts following the country's devastating earthquakes, which have killed thousands of people and overwhelmed emergency services.
Designer Efrain Mogollon transformed his workshop within days of the disaster, with his 22-member team replacing fabric and gowns with black polyethylene used to produce body bags for rescue teams. The bags are being donated free of charge to support the ongoing recovery operation.
Mogollon said helping families affected by the disaster had become more important than running his business. Workers at the workshop described the task as emotionally difficult but said they were proud to contribute in a meaningful way during the national tragedy.
