Wolfsburg: Struggling German car giant Volkswagen risks a major conflict with staff over a severe cost-cutting drive, a prominent labor union warned Thursday. The firm is currently thrashing out details of what could potentially become the biggest ever restructuring in global auto industry history.
In direct response, workers staged active protests over the carmaker's reported plans to close down four factories. The struggling German automotive company also currently intends to cut up to 100,000 total jobs IG Metall union official Thorsten Groeger warned that representatives will not stand by and do nothing if the automotive company fails to change course.
