US Launches New Strikes on Iran

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces launched additional strikes against Iran, following orders from the Commander in Chief, to further reduce Tehran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States said the military action responded to Iran’s “unjustified aggression” against commercial vessels and civilian crews travelling through the strategic international waterway.

CENTCOM said the strikes aim to protect maritime security and ensure the continued movement of commercial shipping through one of the world’s most important trade routes.

The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is a key passage for global energy shipments, with millions of barrels of oil transported through the route daily.

The U.S. has said it will continue holding Iran accountable for actions that endanger civilian vessels and freedom of navigation in international waters.
