Iran Says It Hit US Military Bases Across Gulf

Tehran: Iranian state media said that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missile and drone strikes on US military locations in Kuwait and Bahrain on Wednesday in response to a new wave of American airstrikes on Iranian targets.

The IRGC said the operation targeted dozens of US military targets, and Iranian media reported that an American MQ-9 drone was shot down. Bahrain and Kuwait activated their air defence systems as air raid sirens rang across the Gulf.

The new engagement followed substantial US strikes against Iranian military assets, which were apparently launched in reaction to attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. The increased clashes have damaged efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire and raised fears of a wider regional battle.

The increasing conflict has also prompted fears about global energy supplies, with oil prices rising amid uncertainty over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for world oil shipments.
