Amazon bars breastfeeding boss from business course

Dunfermline: Entrepreneur Rachael Bews was rejected from an in-person business development course at an Amazon fulfillment center in Dunfermline, Scotland, for bringing her 20-week-old baby. The online retail giant later issued a formal apology for the incident.
Bews had proactively notified organizers a week prior that her nursing infant would be present. However, Amazon representatives contacted her mid-journey to enforce a long-standing health and safety policy that completely prohibits children under six from entering the operational facility.
While the location features a dedicated lactation room, Bews had not brought milk-expressing equipment, intending to nurse directly. The incident forced Bews to miss critical face-to-face networking and peer collaboration segments of the six-week accelerator program.
Although she can complete the remaining modules online, she emphasized that remote alternatives cannot replace the value of in-person small-business mentorship. Amazon stated it is actively reviewing customer communications to prevent future travel misunderstandings.
