Trump Revives Feud With Italy's Meloni Ahead of NATO Summit Meeting

Washington : US President Donald Trump has reignited his public dispute with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni by sharing a mocking social media post just days before the two leaders are set to meet at the NATO summit in Turkey.

Trump posted a meme on his Truth Social platform showing Meloni looking up in his direction, accompanied by the caption 'Restraining order needed.' The post marked the latest escalation in a feud that began after last month's G7 summit.

The US president had previously claimed that Meloni repeatedly asked him for a photograph during the summit and alleged that Italy refused to allow the United States to use Italian runways during operations linked to the conflict with Iran.

Meloni strongly rejected those claims, calling them "completely made up" and insisting that neither she nor Italy had ever 'begged' for anything. She also defended Italy's sovereignty and said decisions regarding US military facilities in the country were governed by existing agreements.

The latest exchange comes just one day before Trump and Meloni are scheduled to meet at the NATO summit, raising fresh attention to the increasingly public tensions between the two leaders.
