PARIS: Thailand’s foreign ministry has officially denied viral online claims that French President Emmanuel Macron knelt before the Thai king during a historic state visit to Paris.
The controversy arose after an AI-generated image circulated widely on social media, purporting to show Macron kneeling while presenting France's highest awards to King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida during a presidential dinner. This high-profile trip marked the first official visit by a Thai monarch to France since 1960.
A nationalist Facebook page with over two million followers shared the fabrication, generating more than 40,000 likes from deeply touched commenters. However, Thai officials confirmed that no such behavior occurred.
