Chinese President Xi Jinping Meets Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman

BEIJING: On the morning of June 26, President Xi Jinping met with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who is on an official visit to Beijing. The leaders jointly announced the decision to build a ‘China-Bangladesh community with a shared future,’ elevating bilateral relations to a higher level.
President Xi emphasized that China remains committed to its long-standing friendship with Bangladesh, vowing to act as a trustworthy partner regardless of global changes. He highlighted that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, which has led the nation to its current development.
Prime Minister Rahman extended his congratulations on the CPC's 105th anniversary, noting that China is a vital partner in Bangladesh’s foreign policy. He expressed his pleasure at the new level of bilateral cooperation.
Bangladesh hopes to advance Belt and Road cooperation, enhancing exchanges in economy, trade, green energy, technology, and health to achieve modernization. Furthermore, Bangladesh reaffirmed its firm commitment to the one-China principle, opposing ‘Taiwan independence.’
Finally, the Prime Minister expressed support for President Xi’s global initiatives, pledging to coordinate on international affairs and uphold the U.N.-centered order.
