Budapest: Hungarian lawmakers approved a new set of anti-corruption measures on Tuesday, marking a significant step in Prime Minister Peter Magyar's ongoing campaign to overhaul the nation's governance.
This legislative move is primarily aimed at securing access to billions of euros in European Union funding that had previously been withheld from the country.
The bill passed through parliament with strong support, securing 142 votes in favor. There were 39 votes cast against the measure, with three members abstaining.
These reforms represent a cornerstone of Prime Minister Magyar’s broader strategy to implement sweeping changes within the government and restore full access to EU financial support.
