1,250 Palestinian Children to Benefit from Sport-Based Learning Initiative
A new sport-for-development initiative is set to support thousands of Palestinian children through structured play and learning activities under the Circle In program, co-funded by Qatar Foundation, Education Above All Foundation, and the International Olympic Committee.
Delivered by Palestine: Sports for Life, the three-year Circle In Palestine program aims to create safe and inclusive environments where children can learn, heal, and build life skills through sport. The first phase will directly benefit around 1,250 children across 25 schools and communities in the West Bank and Gaza.
The program prioritizes support for girls, children with disabilities, refugees, and displaced children, offering psychosocial support through sport and play-based activities. Organizers say the initiative is designed to strengthen emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social connection in communities affected by conflict.
The project is being implemented in coordination with Palestine’s Ministry of Education, UNRWA, and local partners to expand access to safe recreational spaces at a time when conflict has severely limited opportunities for children.
Training Teachers and Expanding Reach
As part of the rollout, teachers and community trainers have already begun delivering after-school activities after receiving training in child safeguarding, inclusion, and psychosocial support. The program is expected to expand further across Palestinian communities in the coming phases.
Global Sport-for-Development Vision
Circle In is part of a wider international effort operating across 10 countries, aiming to use sport as a tool for education, inclusion, and social development. The initiative ultimately plans to reach up to 50,000 children and train 5,000 educators and coaches across the region.
