Bahrain, UNDP Explore Enhanced Environmental Cooperation

Meeting reviews cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable development

Bahrain has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable development during a meeting between senior officials and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, received Her Excellency Asmaa Shalaby, Resident Representative of the UNDP in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of Ms. Amina Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment.

During the meeting, the Minister underscored Bahrain’s commitment to working closely with the United Nations and its specialised agencies to advance environmental sustainability and ensure the optimal use of natural resources. He also highlighted the important role played by the UNDP in supporting Bahrain’s development journey.

The discussions focused on ways to further strengthen cooperation in environmental and sustainable development fields, in support of inclusive and diversified growth aligned with national development goals.

For her part, Ms. Shalaby expressed her appreciation to the Minister, praising Bahrain’s leading initiatives in climate action and environmental conservation. She reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to further expanding cooperation to achieve shared development objectives.
