Sydney: An escaped Tasmanian devil known as ‘Unstable’ has been caught and safely returned to captivity after a fifteen days hunt that attracted huge media attention.

The animal escaped from its enclosure earlier this month, forcing wildlife officials and municipal authorities to conduct a thorough search. Teams tried to trace the elusive marsupial using motion-sensor cameras, baited traps, and public reports.

According to officials, the Tasmanian devil was eventually found and caught without injury. Despite spending nearly two weeks in the wild, the animal was found to be in good health and was returned to its enclosure for standard veterinarian checkups.

The escape alarmed wildlife keepers, as Tasmanian devils are an endangered species endemic to Australia that play a vital part in conservation efforts. While the creatures are known for their fiery personalities and formidable jaws, they normally shun human interaction.

Authorities praised the public for reporting sightings during the search, saying community assistance was critical to bringing the unusual wildlife adventure to a safe finish.
